背景：大学校园规划是一个非常有意思的课题，比如查阅我国的校园规划，大多强调的是功能分区，校园文化（气派or大气），建筑单体（标志性）等以解决问题为核心的规划出发点，其结果往往“千校一面”，大学新区如果不注明学校，基本猜不出哪个大学。以下美国例举的大学规划，也许能带来一些不一样的东西和思考，本文将以三个大学为研究案例：1.圣马特奥学院（College of San Mateo CSM ）；2.加州大学伯克利分校（University of California, Berkeley ）；3.斯坦福大学（Stanford University ）。
关注点之一：大学规划设立目标。

圣马特奥学院（College of San Mateo，简称CSM），坐落在圣马特奥县，属于县立大学（美国县要比市大一级，例如整个旧金山湾区面积约与长三角差不多，包含9个县），是美国典型的社区大学，这个学院我们很多人比较陌生，但是如果你或者孩子有去美国念书的打算，建议重点关注这个学校，为什么呢？2016年全美2000多个社区大学排名，圣马特奥学院排名第一，并且直升UC系统大学（加州大学，伯克利分校，洛杉矶分校等），并且学分互认，很多选择曲线入学的“牛人”，会在圣马特奥学院学习2年，后转入加大伯克利分校2年，毕业与本校4年制一致。并且学费便宜不少，2017年学费大约6000美金/年，而加州大学学费约4.2万美金/年。是公立大学的五分之一，私立大学的十分之一。

2. 斯坦福大学（Stanford University）；
斯坦福大学（Stanford University），全名小利兰?斯坦福大学（Leland Stanford Junior University），简称“斯坦福（Stanford）”，位于美国加州旧金山湾区南部的帕罗奥多市（Palo Alto）境内，临近世界著名高科技园区硅谷，是世界著名私立研究型大学。斯坦福大学占地约33平方公里（8180英亩），是美国占地面积第六大的大学。
斯坦福“大椭圆”草坪广场，这是进入校园的第一界面，车沿广场停在路边，草坪中有学生在做飞碟运动游戏。由于我们驱车到达的时候已近下午了，可以看到西侧阳光拖着长长的阴影。
这是很多大学招生机构都喜欢放的一幅照片，实际上是大椭圆南侧的一个教学楼和钟塔。建筑采用非常典型的意大利托斯卡纳风格。
这也是一个经典的取景角度。
这是斯坦福一个比较经典的凯旋门，门上有精湛的雕刻花纹。
这是诸多斯坦福旅游喜欢放的一张照片角度，可以同时看到加州棕榈，钟塔，拱门，教室。
斯坦福校园一景，有一些微微的坡度。
这是校园内最大的旅游纪念品商店，一定不要错过了。建筑类型比较特别。

大椭圆一侧停车位，可以看到椭圆草坪实际上是凹下去2米左右的，方便活动是围合观看。
新建的法学院大楼，建筑用现代的手法演绎斯坦福建筑语言。
3.加州大学伯克利分校（University of California, Berkeley）
伯克利分校是UC系统里排名第一的大学，也是全球学术排名第3（2016）的顶尖，共有107位诺奖得主（排名第3）。不属于8所老“藤校”（Ivy league),但进入了25所新藤校（New Ivies)的序列，整个硅谷的顶尖计算机人才基本都来自于该校。伯克利总校面积约5平方公里，主校面积约72公顷，校园位置非常好，背山，伯克利山，面海，旧金山湾。当地的华裔都以能进入UCB为荣。
校园地图，主路径为两条东西向的线状路线，南大门为主要校门（地图中右手边）。
从西侧湾区大道进入学校，校门为一堵非常矮的铁艺围墙，伯克利分校是加大的第一所大学，也是加州的第一所全日制公立大学，1868年建校，1869年开始招生。

图书馆，这个角度是伯克利的经典角度，明信片，游客，学生照都在这个地点取景，远处能看到伯克利塔（Sather Tower),是世界第三高的钟塔，建于1917年，塔高94米，上塔会收取3美元/人的门票，塔上能看到校园全貌和远处的旧金山及金门大桥。
正在图书馆复习的学生，华裔面孔占了一半。天花上的藻井与故宫的非常像，吊下来额圆孔型灯，其实是光纤灯，另一头接在屋顶。
登到塔顶，能看到远处的金门大桥，近处为工程学院及图书馆，在塔上，各个方位的校园建筑，都有图示标出，方便游客识别，如果时间凑巧，到整点的时候，能看到64个大钟鸣钟报时，声音非常震撼，基本上得捂住耳朵。
塔前的轴线广场，广场铺地有塔的基本信息介绍，道路两侧造型丰富的树感觉像法桐。
这是一所印象比较深刻的建筑，音乐图书馆，全身用六角形铜瓦覆盖，窗型材采用红褐色与墨绿色的铜瓦形成互补色系，期间透出室内暖色的灯光。
伯克利南大门，也是主大门，Sather Gate， 可以看到两个重要建筑都以Sather命名，主要是纪念伯克利的捐赠者银行家 Peder Sather(1810-1886)。这个校门在美国一系列重要历史上扮演了见证者的角色，如1960年的“反越运动”，1964年的“言论自由运动”，Free Speach Movement .为纪念此次运动，校门附近建立了言论自由咖啡厅，人气爆棚。1968年的“嬉皮士运动”Hippies. 等等。
